Indian Hockey Stars Dares Virat Kohli for Fitness Face-Off in Yo-Yo Test
Indian hockey stars Manpreet Singh and Hardik Singh have welcomed the idea of taking on former India cricket captain Virat Kohli in a Yo-Yo Test, after Kohli compared the fitness of cricket and hockey players during a recent event.
At the RCB Innovation Lab Indian Sports Summit, Kohli spoke about his thoughts on fitness across different sports, stating that cricket players are not even 15% as fit as Indian hockey players. He added that if hockey players were to watch cricket training sessions, they would probably laugh because their sport demands far more physicality.
Kohli’s Comments Spark Fun Challenge
In an interview with RevSportz, Manpreet Singh and Hardik Singh talked about the prospects of facing off against Kohli in a Yo-Yo Test. Manpreet Singh said that he would definitely invite Kohli to a challenge, and that he hopes the whole RCB team comes with him.
Manpreet Singh outlined the different requirements of the two sports, stating that cricket is also a very difficult game that requires hand-eye coordination and the ability to play shots. He added that if he were to bat against balls coming at 150 kmph, it would be difficult for him as well.
Benefits of Cross-Sport Interactions
Hardik Singh took over and said that the eyeballs that a fitness challenge against Virat Kohli would bring would ultimately be very helpful for Indian hockey. He chose to support Manpreet Singh in a Yo-Yo Test competition against Kohli, stating that it’s going to be very good for the two sports when players interact with each other.
Hardik Singh added that cross-sport interactions can only help Indian sports grow stronger, citing the example of athletes in the US who interact with each other during events like the Olympics.
