Shanto’s Century Powers Abahani to Dominant 9-Wicket Win in DPL

Abahani Limited delivered a completely dominant performance in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL), crushing Agrani Bank Cricket Club by 9 wickets in a one-sided contest. The match was controlled from start to finish by Abahani, with a brilliant century from Najmul Hossain Shanto making the victory even more comfortable.

At the venue in Dhaka, Agrani Bank won the toss and chose to bat first. They made a decent start through opener Mahfijul Islam Robin, who played an attacking knock of 31 off 33 balls. Shadman Islam scored 17 off 25 balls.

Imrul Kayes then tried to steady the innings with 30 off 49 balls. However, Agrani Bank kept losing wickets at regular intervals. In the middle order, Nasir Hossain fought hard with a well-constructed 56 off 58 balls. But he received little support from the other end, and Agrani Bank were eventually bowled out for 178 in 42.1 overs.

Among Abahani’s bowlers, Khaled Ahmed was the most economical, taking 2 wickets for just 21 runs in 8 overs.

Chasing 179, Abahani lost an early wicket when Jishan Alam was bowled for 6 with just 8 runs on the board. But what followed was total domination. Shanto and Mahidul Islam Ankon put together an unbeaten 171-run partnership to seal the match comfortably. Najmul Hossain Shanto played a classy unbeaten century, scoring 108 off 90 balls.

Ankon supported him brilliantly with a calm and composed unbeaten 56 off 86 balls. Abahani reached 179 for 1 in just 31.4 overs, winning the match by 9 wickets in a completely one-sided affair.
