The Rise of a Teenage Phenomenon

In the high-pressure environment of the Indian Premier League, few players have captivated the cricketing world like Rajasthan Royals’ 15-year-old sensation, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. During the 2026 season, he has transformed from a promising talent into an absolute nightmare for opposition bowlers. His ability to clear the ropes with ease has become the defining feature of his game, making him one of the most feared strikers in the tournament.

A Masterclass in Hitting

Sooryavanshi’s recent performance against the Delhi Capitals served as a perfect microcosm of his capabilities. Scoring a quickfire 46 runs off just 21 deliveries, he displayed a lethal combination of power and precision, hitting five fours and three sixes. While his team eventually fell short in the chase, his individual brilliance once again proved that age is merely a number when it comes to raw talent.

Despite a strong foundation built by a 70-run partnership with Dhruv Jurel and solid contributions from skipper Riyan Parag, the Royals were stifled by a clinical spell from Mitchell Starc. However, even in defeat, the narrative centered on the young prodigy’s ability to dominate even the most seasoned international bowlers.

Harbhajan Singh’s Tactical Blueprint

With bowlers across the league struggling to find a solution to the Sooryavanshi puzzle, former Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has stepped forward to offer a tactical perspective. Drawing on his years of experience at the highest level, Harbhajan believes that the key lies in disciplined spin and spatial awareness.

The Strategy: According to Harbhajan, the primary objective should be to keep the ball away from the teenager’s natural hitting arc. By forcing him to reach for the ball or dance down the track, a bowler can disrupt his rhythm. Harbhajan noted, “I would plan to spin the ball and keep it away from his hitting arc. If he steps out of the crease and tries to hit me, that’s okay. But I don’t want him to play his shots while standing in the crease. That would be my bowling plan.”
