Mustafizur Opens Up on Injury Struggles After Match-Winning Performance

Injuries are often part of a fast bowler’s journey. The pain never completely goes away, but they learn to live with it and keep performing at the highest level. Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman is a perfect example of that fighting spirit.

The left-arm seamer had been dealing with injury concerns in recent weeks, but there has been no sign of rust in his performances. Against Australia, Mustafizur once again showed why he remains one of Bangladesh’s most reliable bowlers.

Key Role in Bangladesh’s Victory

On June 11 at Mirpur, he played a key role in Bangladesh’s victory in the second ODI, helping the Tigers secure both the match and the series.

Australia endured a nightmare start to their innings, losing three wickets before scoring a single run. After Taskin Ahmed removed Matthew Short in the opening over, Mustafizur struck twice in the next over, dismissing Cooper Connolly and Matt Renshaw without conceding a run.

The experienced pacer finished with figures of 3 for 27 from seven overs, including two maidens, as Bangladesh restricted Australia and went on to claim a five-wicket victory.

Player of the Match

Mustafizur was named Player of the Match for his outstanding performance.

Speaking after receiving the award, he said his main focus with the new ball is always to make it swing. “I always try to get swing with the new ball. Normally I enjoy bowling with the old ball, but when the team needed me to step up, I tried my best according to my skill,” Mustafizur said.

Physical Condition and Injury Struggles

During the post-match presentation, presenter Athar Ali Khan asked about his physical condition following his recent injury concerns.

Mustafizur responded with a smile and a realistic assessment of life as a fast bowler. “Fitness is okay. Pain is always there for fast bowlers, but that’s part of the game,” he said.
